Tom, who is Chili Beatz' most recent addition on bass guitar, has been passionate about music since the beginning. He was influenced in Classical music by his parents, and in early Rock-n-Roll and Jazz by his older brother. As a child Tom wanted to play "everything". The school system didn't see his vision and decided he should play the clarinet, which he did through High School. However, he was able to start playing guitar in the HS Jazz Band and also taught himself chords on the piano at the same time. After HS, he joined the Navy and then began his quest to play everything else. He also took up an interest in Hindustani classical music - much influenced by the Beatles - it was the sixties. He added many wind instruments, including the saxophone, which he has been playing in community wind groups and jazz ensembles for over 30 years. He was introduced to Bollywood music, particularly that of A.R. Rahman, in 2001 and began playing bass in 2006. Still passionate after all these years... about all kinds of music.
